CAMP OLAVE
Take me down to the ocean shore
I want to see it all once more.
Let me feel the cool sea breeze
And look way up to the tall, tall trees.
Aginst the blue an eagle would soar
How could anyone ask for more?
I would like to sit on our special rock
With guiding friends to rest and talk.
When looking out at the ocean wide
I would spot a cruise ship I'd like to ride.
Millions of sparkles ever so bright
What a beautiful, silvery, sunshiny sight.
How could you ever explain it all?
The water, the waves, the rise and the fall.
The rocks appear when the ride is low
What wonders we find when exploring we go.
I would like to walk on the road again
As I often did in the sun and the rain.
There I would meet a friend or two
We'd smile and say "How are you?"
Campfires down at the beach at night
With path on the water from moon so bright.
The morning view so calm and serene
A more glorious sight I have never seen.
There is no other place I would rather be
Than at our beautiful Guide Camp by the sea.

Box ovens at Camp S'More 05
Camp S'More has been held at Camp Olave many times. This great camp is for patrols and gives Guides an introduction to camp skills. Campers sleep indoors but spend their day outside cooking, playing games, doing crafts and exploring the beach. In 2005 they stayed in Kwi Kwa and Hideaway and worked on camp skills at Galalina. In 2006 they stayed at Kwi Kwa, Ranger, Hideaway, Brock and Nawilak and practiced their skills at Field. They also had great campfires at Ah Ah Wa Kie. In 2007 it was larger than ever.
To make a perfect S'more place a piece of chocolate on a graham cracker, toast a marshmallow on a stick over the fire until it is toasty, place the marshmallow on the chocolate and top with another graham cracker. Careful! The marshmallow is hot but so tasty! |
